How does GetMP4 download videos?

Paste a link and we read the formats the site already serves for that video. Pick one and the file streams straight to your device. MP4 video is copied without re-encoding, and nothing is stored on our side.

Can I get just the audio as MP3?

Yes. Choose 320, 256 or 128 kbps under Audio · MP3. The audio is converted to MP3 as it streams to you.

How do transcripts work?

Press "Get transcript". If the video has captions, we use them. If it doesn't, our AI listens to the audio and writes one, which takes about a minute per 10 minutes of video. Copy it, or download it as TXT, SRT or VTT subtitles.

Does it work on iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Open getmp4.app in Safari, paste the link and tap a format. Your download appears in Safari's downloads list and the Files app.

Can I download long videos or YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Shorts work like any other link. Long videos work too, though big 1080p and 4K files take a while to download.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up, and we don't keep a history of what you download.

What video quality is available?

Whatever the video was uploaded in, up to 4K (2160p). Each option shows its approximate file size before you download.

Am I allowed to download any video?

Only download videos you own, have permission to use, or that are licensed for reuse, such as Creative Commons. You're responsible for how you use what you download. Respect creators' rights and each site's terms.
